PM Modi "Chief Guest" At AMU’s Centenary Celebration.

AMU invites PM Modi at the University’s Centenary Celebration

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will be observing their centenary celebrations on December 22 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a chief guest for the event. The event will be attended by PM Modi virtually along with the Union Education Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said Omar Saleem Peerzaada, the Public Relations Officer of AMU on Wednesday.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university Professor Tariq Mansoor in a media statement issued by the university has “appealed to all concerned to keep the Centenary Programme above politics.” This is also the first time that PM Modi will be a part of a programme of the AMU. The VC of the university is full of gratitude and said that the community at AMU is extremely thankful to Prime Minister Modi’s acceptance to be a part of the celebrations of the university marking its 100 years of existence.

In the past the university has had a bristle relation with the BJP and its leaders as they have repeatedly found faults in the university students and made suggestions to change the name of the university.

The portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah hanging at the university’s student hall had become a center of huge controversy two years ago. BJP lawmaker from Aligarh, Satish Gautam had written to the VC of the university inquiring about why the portrait was allowed.
