On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated new Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He also said that India desired peace and stability in a region free of terrorism.

 

According to the tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote," Congratulations to H. E. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. India desires peace and stability in a region free of terror so that we can focus on our development challenges and ensure the well-being and prosperity of our people.”

As per the statement given by news agency ANI, it said “Mian Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has secured 174 votes,” announced PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq, who was chairing the session after the resignation of Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri ahead of the vote.

 

Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in as the prime minister of Pakistan on Monday as the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan, bringing to an end the political uncertainty that had gripped the country since a no-confidence motion was introduced against his predecessor Imran Khan on March 8. Prime Minister-elect Shehbaz Sharif was administered the oath by the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani after President Arif Alvi fell ill.

 

Addressing the assembly session, Sharif said that he wanted good relations with India but it could not be achieved without a resolution to the decades-old Kashmir dispute.
