PM Modi In Poll Bound State Assam

PM Modi in Assam for poll campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today landed in Assam’s Dhemaji ahead of the announcement of the dates of assembly elections and laid foundation stones for several projects. On Monday PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the nation by accusing the previous government who ruled India for decades since Independence of neglecting Assam and other north-east states.

The three major projects in the petroleum sector and the enumerated steps taken by the state government led by Sarbananda Sonowal along with the center over the past few years are working together for the balanced growth of the region, said PM Modi. After addressing a massive gathering, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of a slew of projects worth over 3300 crore he said, “Those who ruled for decades since independence believed Dispur was too distant from Delhi. Dilli ab dur nahi aapke darwaze par hai.” (Delhi is not far now, it stands at your doorsteps) He also alleged that the previous government had a ‘step-motherly’ approach to the north bank of Assam and the health, education and industry was largely neglected.

Before the elections are announced, which is more likely to take place in the first week of March PM Modi said that he will visit Assam and other poll bound states as many times as possible.
