PM Modi leaves for US to attend Quad Summit

This will be the first in-person summit of Quad leaders in the US.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for the three-day tour to the United States Wednesday morning to attend the Quad Summit. He said that this is an occasion to strengthen the strategic partnership with the US and consolidate ties with Japan and Australia.

This will be the first in-person summit of Quad leaders, that is US President Joe Biden, who is also hosting the meeting, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Japan Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

PM Modi will also address the United Nations General Assembly and discuss the global challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to combat terrorism, climate change and other important issues. This will be his first meeting with Biden after the US polls.

Mr. Modi said that he was also looking forward to meet US Vice President Kamala Harris "to discuss global issues and explore ideas for cooperation" between both countries.
