PM Modi makes a congratulatory call to USA’s President Elect Joe Biden.


On Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President elect Joe Biden and congratulated him on his win in the US Presidential elections 2020. PM Modi restated India’s engagement in its imperative partnership with the US as they discussed their shared priorities and concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific regions. In the phone call PM Modi also conveyed his warm wishes to Vice President elect Kamala Harris and said that her success was a matter of great pride for the Indo-American community.

Mr Biden’s Presidential transition team released a readout of the call with PM Modi. The readout said “The President-elect thanked the Prime Minister for his congratulations and expressed his desire to strengthen and expand the US-India strategic partnership alongside the first vice president of South Asian descent”.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday talked about the positive ties with the Biden’s new administrations perceiving that the Democrat is ‘not a stranger’ to India.

Apart from working together to encounter terrorism, climate change and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic situations, Mr. Joe Biden is also expected to back India’s claim to a permanent UN Security Council seat.

India and the United States have always enjoyed a cordial relationship with each other. With Democrats and the Republicans introducing distinctive objections and opportunities in the circles of democracy, human rights, regional policy, trade and immigration, the friendship between the two countries is expected to grow further.
