PM Modi Meets Global Leaders At G7

PM Modi also attended the BRICS Summit along with Russia and China


The G7 is a forum of majorly leading industrialized nations.

That includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and United States.  

Along With them, European Union (non-enumerated member) Representatives are always present at the annual meeting of the G7. Germany holds the presidency of the G7 this year.

Prime Minister Modi has also been invited by the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz along with Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal, and South Africa to the Summit as global partner countries this year. 

 

PM Modi met world leaders including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Monday at Schloss Elmau in southern Germany. 

 

According to his official twitter handle, they discussed issues such as  stronger trade ties, cooperation to mitigate climate change, emerging technologies and cultural linkages.

 

After which he also met Canadian President, Justin Trudeau who had visited India in 2018. He had held bilateral talks with the Indian prime minister earlier and held a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo also, to expand bilateral cooperation with India and increase trade and investment.

 

He also met the German and French Presidents’ furthermore, discussing different matters of cooperation and friendship between the nations.

 

Recently, Prime Minister Modi also attended the BRICS Summit along with Russia and China, as well.

 

In 2021, PM Modi virtually attended the Summit amid the Covid pandemic outbreak as a guest partner.

 

This year, due to the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also took part virtually on Monday in the G7.
