Ahead of farmers Talks PM Modi meets union ministers


Talks between the government and the farmer representatives’ is scheduled for Today at 2PM. The third round of talks will be held again at Vigyan Bhavan. This morning Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Narendra Singh Tomar and Piyush Goyal met at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home in Delhi ahead of the talks with the farmers regarding the three farm laws the center introduced in September.

The farmers on December 8 have called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ (All India Shutdown) and this was declared by the protesting farmers on Friday December 4. A group of 40 farmers union had a meeting at the Delhi-Haryana border and said that they have decided to occupy all highway tolls across the country.

The Agriculture Minister on Thursday after the talks with the farmer representatives said ‘the government has no ego’ suggesting it is open to broaden discussions.On Friday a PIL was also filed at the Supreme Court requesting for an immediate removal of the protesting farmers and also to make social distancing and wearing face masks compulsory at the protesting sites.

The protest has already seen three deaths among the farmers and the government of Punjab has already declared an assistance of 5 lakh rupees to each family of the two farmers who died during the protest.
