PM Modi Offers Prayer At Shri Guru Ravidas Vishram Dham

PM Participates In 'Shabad Kirtan'


On Wednesday, on the occasion of Sant Ravidas' Birth Anniversary. Prime Minister Narendra Modi pays his visit to the Guru Ravidas Vishram Dham temple in Delhi’s Karol Bagh. PM's visit came ahead of Ravidas Jayanti. 

 

As per the information, prime minister Narendra Modi was also seen taking part in Shabad Kirtan. 

 

According to the tweet, PM Wrote, "Tomorrow is the birth anniversary of the great saint Guru Ravidas Ji. The way he dedicated his life to eliminating evil practices such as casteism and untouchability from society, even today he is inspiring all of us," he had tweeted on Tuesday.

 

According to the tweet, President Ram Nath Kovind wrote "Let us all contribute towards building a society based on equality, harmony, and coordination by following the path shown by Guru Ravidas Ji," tweeted president Kovind on the occasion of Ravi Das Jayanti.

 

Guru Ravidas Jayanti is a festival that is popular among Dalits in Punjab, who constitute more than 30 percent of the state's population.

 

He is also considered a disciple of Sant Kabir and has contributed as many as 40 devotional poems and songs in Guru Granth Sahib.

 

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has declared a holiday and ordered all schools to remain closed because of Ravidas Jayanti.

 

"All the government, government-aided and unrecognised schools of Directorate of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCT), Municipal corporation, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and Delhi cantonment board shall observe a holiday tomorrow i.e., 16 February," read the statement released by the authorities yesterday.
