PM Modi paid tribute to parliamentary attack slain jawans


Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday paid homage to soldiers who sacrificed their lives safeguarding dignity and honour of the country in cowardly parliamentary attacks of 2001. The nefarious attempts of terrorists to invade highly secured Indian Parliament and agonize the hostages in the house ambushed a threat to the country. The attacks not only stirred up the tension and tiff between India and Pakistan but also ignited the flames of outrage and revenge among Indians. The tales of bravery of such heroes are still recited and passed on to posterity, reminiscing the selfless love and respect they had for country and countrymen.

The PM asserted that Nation can never forget the horrifying incident and fierce response of security forces to salvage the supreme legislative body of country, immortalising their courage in the history of the nation. He extended his gratitude to soldiers and armed forces by taking to his twitter handle, "We will never forget the cowardly attack on our Parliament on this day in 2001. We recall the valour and sacrifices of those who lost their lives while protecting our Parliament. India will always be thankful to them." Nation will always be indebted to their service he further added.

President Ram Nath Kovind yesterday also conveyed his anguish over the unfortunate terrorist attack and remembered the martyrs who laid down their lives for the protection of motherland. The martyrs commemorated the pride of the nation with their blood by facing the enemies valiantly. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also offered thankfulness and condolences to the personnel's family. It was due to their undaunted efforts that we survived without surrendering. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid respects to brave security men and referred them as 'Sons of Maa Bharti'.

Terrorists who were associated from Pakistan based terror organizations namely Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad hounded the country with their unlawful conquest over Indian Parliament on 13 December 2001. Nine persons including one security personnel were killed in the attack. All five terrorists who broke into the authority were shot dead by security forces.
