PM Modi’s Constitution Day Speech


The Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the All India Presiding Officers Conference on Thursday on the occasion of Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas. November 26 is also observed as National Law Day in our country every year. PM Modi while referring to the Constitution Day said today is the day I bow down to Bapu’s (Mahatma Gandhi) inspiration and Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s commitment.

PM Modi stated “Many such personalities have decided the path of development for India. It was decided five years ago on November26 to commemorate this day as Constitution Day as to remember their efforts”. He also addressed the 80th conference of presiding officers. The theme of the event was to have a healthy and harmonious relationship between the three wings of the states i.e. legislature, judiciary and executive.

In his joint sitting at the Parliament, PM Modi made a roundabout reference to the Emergency period which was enforced by the then Prime Minister Smit. Indira Gandhi, he said the countrymen failed efforts of targeting the constitution and it remained unshaken. Our Indian Constitution emphasizes the rights and duties of the citizens in the country.

At the Constitutional hall where the Constitution of India was first adopted PM Modi said there has been emphasis on citizen rights in the last past years as a large group of people felt deprived of equality and justice. Ha said the constitution starts with “we the people of India” noting that people are the strength, inspiration and aim for the nation.

The joint sitting was attended by President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in addition to the members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. PM Modi also remembered this day along with being an auspicious day is also a sad reminder of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks which took place in 2008 and he paid homage to all those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack.
