PM Modi To Address Nation On Parkash Purab Of Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur

Address to Take Place On April 21


On April 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 400th Prakash Purab of Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur from Red Fort.

 

According to the information, Home Minister Amit Shah will open the program at Red Fort on April 20, and Modi will address the nation on April 21, culture minister G Kishan Reddy said.

 

As per the information, the Culture Ministry announced this on Monday. It said PM Modi will also release a commemorative coin and postage stamp on the occasion.

The ministry also informed, Four hundred 'ragis' (Sikh musicians) will perform in a 'Shabad Kirtan' to mark the auspicious occasion.

 

According to the information, the program will be organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

 

Also, Chief ministers of many states and several prominent personalities from across the length and breadth of the subcontinent and abroad will be part of the celebrations, CMs of Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, UP, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan are also expected to attend.

 

This program on the 400th Parkash Purab (birth anniversary) of Sikh guru Tegh Bahadur is being organised as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. "Emphasising that this is the first time in 70 years that such a commemorative program is being organised, Reddy said, “There were several attempts by the Mughals to convert him but Guru Tegh Bahadur resisted the force and torture and did not succumb. He also strongly opposed the forced conversions of Kashmiri Pandits and was eventually beheaded in Chandni Chowk for his resistance.”
