PM Modi To Unveil 'Statue Of Equality'

It is the World's second-largest statue in Sitting Position


Prime minister Narendra Modi will unveil the World's Second Largest statue in a sitting position. It is a 216-foot-tall statue of social reformer and saint, Ramanujacharya in Hyderabad.


According to the statement given by the Prime Minister’s Office said that Ramanujacharya promoted the idea of equality in all aspects of life including faith, caste, and creed.

 

"Sri Ramanujacharya worked tirelessly for the upliftment of people with the spirit of every human being equal regardless of nationality, gender, race, caste or creed.” It also said the statue has been conceptualised by Chinna Jeeyar Swami of Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram.


As per the information, the statue is made up of five metals – gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc – the Statue of Equality is among one of the world’s tallest metallic statues in sitting position.

 

The statue is mounted on a 54-feet high base building, called ‘Bhadra Vedi’. The floors of the building are dedicated to a Vedic digital library and research center, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery detailing works of Sri Ramanujacharya.


President Ram Nath Kovind will unveil the inner chambers golden statue of Ramanujacharya. As per the information, the inner one weighs 120 kg and the president will unveil it on February 13.


The 1,000 rupees crore project was funded by donations from devotees all across the country. The inner sanctum is made up of gold.

 

According to the statement given by Chinna Jeeyar Swami said, "we heartily welcome everyone including chief guest, dignitaries, devotees, and people from all walks of life for the grand opening of Statue of equality.

 

Bhagavad Ramanujacharya has remained a true icon of equality for 1000 years and this project will ensure its teachings are practiced for at least another one thousand years."
