PM Modi won't travel to UK for G-7 Summit in June due to Covid situation


Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was traveling to the UK earlier for the G-7 summit in June, cancelled the trip due to the covid, informed by the government on Tuesday.PM Modi was specially invited by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's in the G-7 summit.In a statement said by a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said "While appreciating the invitation to the Prime Minister by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to attend the G7 Summit as a Special Invitee, given the prevailing COVID situation, it has been decided that the Prime Minister will not attend the G-7 Summit in person".

In addition, US President Joe Biden is going to attend the meeting of the G-7, which combines the world in advanced economics in countries like the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan. The summit will be the first in-person meeting grouping which will take place in two years.

The G-7 leaders will be focusing and discussing the challenges which are faced by the world throughout the epidemic and its impact on global economies. Earlier, PM Modi was there at the G-7 summit in France which happened in  August 2019, and now about the  2020 summit which is happening in the US, which has been canceled now because of the pandemic. Moreover, In January Prime Minister Johnson was about to visit India as a special guest on Republic Day, but he canceled his trip as seeing the situation of covid situation, India also has the highest rate numbers of death in every week compared to the UK, the government has allowed meeting each and open of restaurants and pub and other places will be soon open from next week.
