Venkateswara Rao is a sculpture artist who made the statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is 14-feet high.

A statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is 14-feet high and built of entirely scrap, apparently is to be installed in Bengaluru on September 16. The statue has been built by artists Katuru Venkateswara Rao and his son Katuru Ravi. The father-son duo hail from Tenali in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The statue is finally ready for shipment and installation.

Artist Venkateswara Rao stated, “10-15 artisans worked for almost two months to complete this statue.” The artist stated that local BJP corporator, Mohan Raju approached Rao with the request to construct the statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Apparently, the material was collected by himself from various states like Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, and Chennai to build the PM’s statue. The material included discarded automobile parts, wheels, rods, nuts, bolts, sheets, metal chains, cogs, and waste metal pieces. It took around 100 tonnes of scrap material, according to the sources. Apart from the father-son duo, a man-power of 10 members helped in welding and other work to make this statue and it took more than 1 month to complete this piece of art.

Mr. Rao’s son Ravi further explained, “Usually, statues with perfect features are not made in scrap art unlike in bronze statues. It is difficult to bring out the facial features with available scrap," who is also a fine artist.
