PM To Inaugurate 11 New Medical Colleges In Tamil Nadu

Inauguration to take place virtually


On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 11 New government medical colleges across Tamil Nadu and the New campus of the central institute of classical Tamil in Chennai.


According to the information, the inauguration will take place today at 4:00 pm and will be done virtually. These are being built for Rs 4,000 crore out of which the Union Government has provided Rs2,145 crore and the rest has been given by the Tamil Nadu Government to build.

 

The information also mentions about the new medical colleges will be established in virudhunagar, Namakkal, The Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Thiruvallur, Nagapattinam, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ramanathapuram, and Krishnagiri.

 

The New medical College with a capacity of 1,459 seats is being established under the centrally sponsored scheme of establishment of a new medical College attached to the existing district /referral hospital. These are being established in those District which doesn't have a Government or a private college for medical background.


As per the statement given by the PMO, it said, "Establishment of these medical colleges is in the line with the Prime minister's constant endeavor to promote affordable medical education and improve health infrastructure in all parts of the Country " 


Not only this, but PM Modi will also inaugurate the 25th National Youth Festival today at 11am in Puducherry. This will take place via video conferencing.  This day is marked as the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day.
