Police Seizes 250 kg Of Marijuana, 3 Arrested

The worth of marijuana is more than Rs 25 lakhs!


Delhi Police Crime Branch has exposed an interstate gang involved in drug trafficking in the Delhi -NCR area from Odisha. Three persons including the receiver of the consignment-Ishrafeel aka Ram Chandra, Palji Gautam and Shabuddin (receiver) have been arrested in the case.

At least 250 kg of good quality marijuana (ganja) worth more than Rs. 25 lakhs was seized from the hidden cavity prepared in the fuel tank of a truck.

Information about the supply of a huge consignment of narcotics was received by ASI Sandeep through field sources and technical analysis. Later, the suspected phone number was taken on interception.

On July 24, after analysis of conversations on intercepted phone numbers and CDRs of several numbers, mobile numbers of driver and helper were extracted. Regular locations of suspected mobile numbers of the driver and helper of the truck were obtained and a route from Odisha to Delhi was prepared.

On the basis of route and location of suspected mobile numbers, details of trucks passed from the different toll plazas were obtained. It was also established that the consignment was supposed to reach Bhalaswa, Delhi by morning on July 25.

The team was divided into three parts and one advanced team under the leadership of SI Narendra was sent to identify the truck on the basis of phone locations of the suspected driver.

The team reached near Mathura and started intercepting the suspected trucks heading towards Delhi. Finally, a suspected truck was intercepted near Noida.

Thereafter, a truck was chased by one of the advance teams. The second team under the leadership of Inspector Sanjay Kaushik was deployed to identify the receiver of the consignment, Sahabuddin. The location of the suspected phone number of the receiver was traced and found near the Bhalaswa area.

According to information developed through technical analysis, a trap was laid. The truck was intercepted and driver Ishrafeel, helper Palji Gautam and receiver Shabuddin were then apprehended.

The truck was checked and no goods were found loaded. In the search, it was found that the size of the fuel tank was bigger than the normal. During interrogation, a hidden cavity found prepared in a fuel tank and bags containing 250 kg of marijuana were recovered from it.
