President Draupadi Murmu is visiting Assam for a two-day trip to attend the Gaj Utsav at Kaziranga.

After landing arriving at LGBI airport yesterday she travelled to Kaziranga and also took a jeep safari inside the Kaziranga National Park's central range on Friday morning during the second day of her Assam visit, officials said.

On Friday, today the President kicked off the two-day 'Gaj Utsav-2023' (elephant festival) at Kaziranga National Park High School's playground field.

The event was attended by Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, according to officials.

"All stakeholders must collaborate in a coordinated manner to ensure Project Elephant's continued success." "It is also critical to raise awareness and sensitivity about elephants among schoolchildren," the President stated in her speech.

"Elephants have long been a part of our history, religion, and culture." "Any action that is good for elephants, other animals, and birds is also good for humanity and our planet," she continued.

Murmu mentioned the ongoing and particular bond between pachyderms and hums, as well as the Oscar-winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers.
