President Ram Nath Kovind visits Chennai to commemorate 100 years of Madras Legislative Council

President Ram Nath will visit Nilgiris on Tuesday and will also visit the Defence Services Staff College at Wellington near Ooty.


President Ram Nath Kovind went to Chennai today to a commemorative event that marked 100 years of the state’s legislature. 5,000 police personnel, including commandos, had been placed for his security, including the assembly hall and the state secretariat, both at Fort St George, the Raj Bhavan. Tight security has been arranged by Shankar Jiwal, Chennai Police Commissioner.

According to the information, he will reach Chennai airport at 12.45 pm and after the reception process, he will go to Raj Bhavan for lunch at 5 pm. President Ram Nath Kovind will be part of the celebrations of the Madras Legislative Council. He will also present the pictures of five-time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi  in the Assembly Hall and will address in remembrance of him.

In addition, President Ram Nath Kovind will spend the night at the Raj Bhavan and will leave for the Nilgiris on Tuesday. He will also visit the Defence Services Staff College at Wellington near Ooty and will address the student officers of the 77th staff course.
