The first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference held under India's leadership was attended by scholars and experts from different countries, including Russia, China, Pakistan, Belarus, Tajikistan,Mayanmar, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Baharain, and India will gather at Jawaharlal Nehru University to discuss on Buddhism.

 

In the event, the pro vice chancellor of the national museum institute of history of art, conservation, and museology (NMI), PRF Anupa Pande, expressed his gratitude to summarize the two-day deliberation by stating that "Buddhism spread like a Banyan tree from India." He explained that the roots of Buddhism is in India where the branches spread to central Asia, china, Far East and in Indian sub continents.

 

In the context of the deliberation, Prof. K. Warikoo, founder of the Central Asian Studies program, noted that there is an urgent need for all to preserve and restore the remnants of the Buddhist heritage, and that Buddhism is universal and non-sectarian as Buddha shows the middle path to be in the right spirit, which is relevant for successful times.

 

To popularize the Buddhists' legacy, there is a need for audiovisual documentaries, books, and chapters in school and college books.
