A group of students of Hansraj College, Delhi will protest outside the Delhi University’s Hansraj college hostel on 20 January 2023 against the ban of non-Vegetarian food at the college canteen.

As per the information received that the college reopened in February last week with the new guidelines following the pandemic with a ban on Non-Veg food in the college canteen.

A notice issued by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at Hansraj College mentioned that in a survey it is shown that nearly 75% of students consume non-Vegetarian food and the ban on non-vegetarian food is not as per official order.

In response to the SFI the principal of Hansraj College Ram Sharma mentioned that almost 90% of students and staff are vegetarian and they face issues and inconveniences.

According to the Hostel warden, Dr. Arvind the students were informed of the restriction on non-veg food during the release of the hostel form and it was mentioned that only veg food will be served. He further added that the decision is taken under College Administration.
