“Protests To Continue Till October 2”, Rakest Tikait After Chakka Jam Concludes

BKU Chief Rakesh Tikait says ‘protests to continue till October 2’ after chakka jam wind-up

The Bhartiya Kisan Union(BKU) chief Rakesh Tikait said on Saturday afternoon that the farmers protesting against the farm laws will not return home till the demands are met by the government. This announcement was made after the 3 hour ‘chakka jam’ protest on state and national highways passed peacefully. Mr Tikait was present at Ghazipur border and while addressing the farmers gathering there he mentioned that the protest will now extend till October 2 and till that date the center has time to repeal the laws.

Rakest Tikait said “We will not return home till our demands are met. We will give time to the government till October 2 to repeal the laws. After this we will do further planning. We won’t hold discussions with the government under pressure".

Today, farmers across the country except in UP, Uttrakhand and Delhi held chakka-jam. The highways in the northern states were blocked peacefully during the protest. In Punjab roads at 33 places were blocked in 15 districts.
