Puducherry Imposes Night Curfew Till 31st Jan

Amid a surge in the cases of Covid-19 and Covid led omicron, the Puducherry has imposed a night curfew from 11 pm till 5 am till January 31, 2022.

 

According to the statement, given in order, it said "Restaurant/hotel) bars/ liquor shops) hospitality sector establishments shall be permitted to operate by strictly following Covid appropriate behavior. However, with approval of the concerned licensing authority, operations may be carried out beyond normal hours on new year eve (December 31)."

 

The information mentions that the curfew will not be imposed on Vaikuntha Ekadashi. Adding more it said the government has said that the number of positive cases there have come down. It said the beach road will be closed at 12:30 am and there shall be no public movement beyond 2 am. Also, the health department will conduct random testing and those who are symptomatic will not be allowed to enter the venues.

 

As per the information, the UT will be deploying teams comprising health, revenue, and police officials to monitor the celebration and they will ensure that attendance at every venue is according to the sanctioned strength.

 

According to the data, on Thursday the Puducherry state reported 115 cases of the Covid which took the overall tally to 1, 29,461 and the fatality taking the death toll to 1,881. The Covid cases are leading to restrictions and imposition of curbs in several other states and UT's throughout the country.
