Punjab: Cabinet Minister Razia Sultana, 3 office-bearers quit in "solidarity" with Sidhu

MLA Razia Sultana had taken oath as Cabinet Minister just two days ago but decided to quit "in solidarity with Navjot Singh Sidhu."

Punjab Cabinet Minister Razia Sultana on Tuesday and three state office-bearers on Wednesday resigned from their posts following the resignation of Navjot Singh Sidhu from the post of Punjab Congress chief. MLA Razia Sultana, who represents Malerkotla Assembly Constituency, had taken oath as Cabinet Minister just two days ago but decided to quit "in solidarity with Navjot Singh Sidhu."

In her resignation letter to Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Ms Sultana said that Mr Sidhu is a "man of principles" and he is "fighting for Punjab and Punjabiyat." However, just like Mr Sidhu, she too said she will continue to serve the party.

Following this, 3 office-bearers also stepped down from their posts including, Gautam Seth who resigned as Punjab Congress General Secretary (in-charge training), Yoginder Dhingra as General Secretary of Punjab Congress and treasurer Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal who submitted their resignations.

Reportedly, the resignation letter of Mr. Sidhu has not been accepted by the top leadership yet and currently, efforts are being made to resolve the issue.
