Punjab Polls: "Bhagwant Mann Is AAP CM's Face," Says: AAP Chief

Mr. Mann received 93% votes from the survey

Mohali: Punjab Assembly Polls are just on the verge to begin. Every political party set to announce their Chief Minister's face to their citizens. Recently, Aam Aadmi Party launched its survey under its "Janta Chunegi Apna CM" drive where commoners can suggest AAP's representatives. Today, the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has announced Bhagwant Mann as their CM's Face.

According to the survey tally, Bhagwant Mann received more than 93 per cent of the votes received through phone and WhatsApp, said Delhi CM to the reporters.

The party initiated a survey "Janta Chunegi Apna CM" asking them to choose a candidate from the party who could become its chief ministerial face.

According to the AAP senior leader Harpal Singh Cheema, who is also the Leader of Opposition, said, "In merely 24 hours, more than eight lakh people have responded to the phone number released by the AAP for choosing the party's chief ministerial face in Punjab."

While talking about the responses received through the survey, Mr Cheema said during the last 24 hours, more than three lakh WhatsApp messages, more than four lakh phone calls, over 50,000 text messages and more than one lakh voice messages have been received on the number.

He said that the AAP will announce its chief ministerial candidate after collecting and compiling the entire data.

Last week, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal asked people who should be the party's chief ministerial face in the Punjab assembly polls, even as he had stated that his preference for the post is Bhagwant Mann.

Around 3 per cent of votes were in the name of Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Punjab Congress chief. A few votes that were in favour of Mr. Kejriwal were declared invalid.

Taking notes from the survey, Mr. Kejriwal said, "It is clear that AAP will win the Punjab election. In a way, the person chosen as the Chief Ministerial candidate will be the next Chief Minister of Punjab."
