Rahul Gandhi Extends Harvest Festival Wishes And Criticizes Government

Rahul Gandhi wishes on harvest festival and also criticizes the central government.

Rahul Gandhi the leader of the Congress party today extended ‘special prayers and wishes’ to the farmers protesting at the borders of Delhi against the three farm laws as he wished the people on the special occasion of the harvesting festival celebrated in different parts of the country will full zeal and enthusiasm. His tweet read “Harvest season is a time of joy and celebrations. Happy Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Bihu, Bhogi and Uttarayan! Special prayers and wishes for our Kisaan-Mazdoors who are fighting for their rights against powerful forces.”

Mr Gandhi is visiting the state of Tamil Nadu today to witness the highly controversial bull taming event ‘Jallikattu’. His tweet on twitter in Tamil read “I am coming to Tamil Nadu today to celebrate Pongal with you. I will attend the Jallikattu festival in Madurai.”

Since the protest against the farm laws has been launched by the farmers of Punjab and Haryana which has seen huge participation from the rest of the nation near the Delhi borders Mr Gandhi has been backing the farmers’ protest. The farmers demand the government to repeal the laws as they fear that the new laws will leave them in the hands of the mercy of the corporate. After the protest began in the late November more than 60 farmers have died according to the protestors. Some out of them had committed suicide while others have died due to the winter chill in the national capital.

Till date there have been eight rounds of talks conducted between the farmer unions and the central government but have failed to break the existing deadlock as the framers only want a complete roll back of the agri laws while the government wants to only make amendments to the laws rather than scraping it off. The Supreme Court which has been observing the present situation between the farmers and the government on Tuesday ordered the implementation of the laws and formed a committee consisting of four members in order to hold talks with the farmers and end the crisis.
