Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's symbolic solidarity with the farmer's protesting, has come under heavy criticism by the BJP. The Congress scion rode to the parliament yesterday, in a tractor, with other party leaders, to bring the government's focus on the plight of the farmers, who have been protesting against the newly formed farm laws. "I just want to bring the message of farmers - protesting against farm laws - to the parliament. Their message is being suppressed... and a discussion is not allowed inside the parliament. The black laws - meant to benefit two-three big businessmen - have to be repealed," Rahul Gandhi  said.

A case has now been filed  under the Motor Vehicles Act, IPC 188 and violation of Covid protocol, against the Congress leaders, some of whom were put into brief detention. According to the Delhi Police no permission was sought by the Congress to protest and the tractor which was driven to the parliament didn't have a number plate. The officials also added that riding a tractor in the heart of the national capital is not allowed, and it's a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, also large gatherings are not allowed near parliament during the monsoon session under section 144, due to the pandemic.
