Railway Minister announces Rs 50,000 award for Mayur Shelke for the excellent act of bravery

Man saves child's life


Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced a 50 thousand rupees award for Mayur Shelke for the excellent act of bravery. Mr. Shelke's adventurousness in rescuing the child a short time before a train stripe past was captured in a CCTV video which won the Internet. Mayur Shelke was felicitated by Railway staff at the Central Railway office on Monday for his act of bravery, courage, and presence of mind.

In a tweet, Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal said, that his work cannot be compared to any prize or money, but he will be rewarded for inspiring humanity with his work. Mayur Shelke not caring about his own life saved the child by running in front of the arriving train and uplifted the child to safety by placing him on the platform. In a statement, Mayur Shelke said, "The woman was visually undermined,  she could do nothing so I ran towards the child but also thought that I might be in danger too. Still, I thought I should save him." "The woman was very emotional and thanked me a lot, Union Minister Piyush Goyal also called me up".

The incident happens at Vangani station near Mumbai, where Shelke is posted as a pointsman, on  17 April, ,CCTV footage of the exhilarating incident went fascinating on social media.
