Rajya Sabha suspends six Trinamool MPs for the day over "disorderly" conduct

Meanwhile, the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm.


Six Trinamool Congress (TMC) Members of Parliament (MPs) were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the day over "grossly disorderly" conduct on Wednesday. Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu ordered the MPs to leave the Upper House after they entered the well with placards and protested against the Pegasus scandal.

The six TMC members-  Dola Sen, Nadimul Haque, Shanta Chhetri, Arpita Ghosh, Abir Ranjan Biswas, and Mausam Noor were first told to return to their respective seats and then asked by the Chairman to withdraw from the rest of the proceedings of the day under Rule 255 for entering well of the house, displaying placards and disobeying the Chair, according to a parliamentary bulletin.

Meanwhile, the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm. Moments after the suspension, Trinamool MP Derek O'Brien tweeted that the "entire opposition" will "unite against Modi-Shah dictatorship" and will protest at 2 pm. This monsoon session of parliament, both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha have witnessed several adjournments amid ruckus in the Houses over issues such as, Pegasus scandal and three farm laws.
