RCP Singh becomes new JD(U) president

RCP Singh, bureaucrat-turned-politician becomes the new JD(U) President


Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, popularly known as RCP became the new party president on Sunday. Bureaucrat- turned- politician, RCP Singh, who is a close confidant of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, stepped in to take charge of the party, Janata Dal (United). Singh is a member of Rajya Sabha and until now he had been holding the position of general secretary in the party. 

Although Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was re-elected as the party president in 2019 for a term of three years, he resigned from the post and proposed Singh's name at the national executive committee meeting which was held at the party headquarter in Patna. Other party members too unanimously accepted Singh as the new party president. RCP Singh was a former IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He had taken early retirement from service and joined politics in 2010. The party members have high hopes of him and believe that Singh would take the party to new heights. Singh told the media that he will make sure developments that took place in Arunachal Pradesh will not happen again as recently six JD(U) MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh had joined BJP which had upset other party members.
