On Thursday, The India meteorological department (IMD) issued a red alert for 5 districts in Tamil Nadu. Also, a yellow alert has been issued for Chennai.

 
According to India meteorological department (IMD) heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted which will continue till Monday even though cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal is unlikely to concentrate into a low-pressure area.

The weatherman has issued a yellow alert for Chennai on Friday and Saturday. Also predicting heavy rainfall till Monday. The department has warned the people living in low-lying areas to be aware.

Tamil Nadu is completely flooded with water. The schools and educational classes in the state are shut due to incessant rainfall in the state. Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Pudukkottai, and Nagapattinam are facing severe rain. The roads and rails are completely submerged in water.
 
Several residential areas and hamlets are underwater. Flights are redirected to the neighboring Tiruchi airport due to poor visibility and bad weather conditions in Thoothukudi. Rivers and streams are overflowed. 

As per the statement, on Friday, the district administration of Chennai, Nagapattinam, Triuchi, Thiruvarur, Vellore, Pudukkottai, virudhunagar, Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Thanjavur have declared holidays for schools and colleges.
