Red alert in Odisha, IMD foresees heavy rainfall

The weather office has also warned the fishermen to stay away from the sea areas in view of heavy rainfall.


The country is witnessing heavy rainfall across several states, whereas the seven districts of Odisha will also receive heavy rainfall. A red alert has been issued in the state by Odisha IMD.

As per the statement given by Umashankar Das, a scientist at IMD Bhubaneswar, "Odisha IMD issues red alert in 7 districts, orange alert in 6 districts, yellow alert in 8 districts for next 24 hours due to heavy rains. There are chances of heavy to very heavy rains in 1-2 districts. There are also chances of flash floods."

The IMD on Sunday predicted heavy to very heavy rains in 1-2 districts and flash floods as well. The weather office has also warned the fishermen to stay away from the sea areas in view of heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the national capital has been witnessing heavy rainfall for the last few days. The capital city has been flooded with water and waterlogging has also become a common issue creating problems in commuting.
