"Red light on, Gaadi off" 2021 campaign to kickoff from today

Delhi: "Red light on, Gaadi off" campaign to start from today . Whereas 2,500 civil defence volunteers will be deployed. They will be working as "Paryavaran marshals" during this time.


With the arrival of the winter season and the upcoming Diwali festival and stubble burning increases the pollution level in the National capital rises. 

To counter the pollution an initiative has been implemented by the Delhi Government to stop the spread of the pollution level,from today (18 October) "Red light on, Gaadi off"  which will help in reducing the pollution level in the capital city. This campaign will tell the commuters to switch  off their vehicle's engine during the red light to minimize the suffocating environment in the capital city.
 
According to the statement of Delhi Environment Minister, Gopal Rai said, the campaign will take place in two shifts from 8 am to 2 pm whereas from 2 pm to 8 pm.  As per the Delhi Government's plan it said, this campaign will be carried out at 100 traffic intersections spread across 13 police districts. Whereas 2,500 civil defence volunteers will be deployed.  They will be working as "Paryavaran marshals" during this time. Meanwhile,  Delhi Government has implemented several initiatives in the capital city to stop the spread of pollution and smog towers have also been installed at the centre of the city to relieve people from getting choked by the environment.
