Redeveloped Chandni Chowk stretch to be inaugurated on September 12

Till now, construction of three public toilets has been completed while the last one will be soon completed by September 15.


Revamped Chandni chowk will be inaugurated on September 12, as per the officials. Earlier, the date had been set for April 17 but due to the rising number of Covid cases, Chandni chowk redevelopment project was shifted to August 15. However, due to heavy security deployment around the area during and after Independence Day, the dates of the inauguration process were again changed.

The work is still unfinished. Work such as, designing and installation of signages with caution messages regarding traffic is yet to be done. In addition, boom barriers have been installed to regulate the vehicular movement on the roads for pedestrians.

Besides, work is in progress related to the redesigning of cycle rickshaws and electric golf carts, which play an important role in the area of Chandni chowk. Till now, construction of three public toilets has been completed while the last one will be soon completed by September 15. The work of the redevelopment project of Chandni Chowk has been impeded for a long time due to the pandemic as well as shortage of labour in this period.
