Agra University puts results of 32,000 students on hold until university-affiliated private colleges deposit the examination fees collected from students

Results of 32,000 students for the academic year 2020-2021 has been put on hold for Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University also known as the Agra University. These are students are from 90 self-financed private colleges enrolled in different courses who are suffering because of the current situation. As per reports, the University administration said despite several notices the colleges have not deposited the examination fees that been collected from the students.

A K Yadav, the examination controller of the university said, “Results will be declared only after these defaulter institutes clear their pending dues.” Ravi Yadav, the leader of student organization Samajwadi Chatra Sabha said “Colleges take examination fees from students at the time of admission. Withholding the results of students because these colleges didn’t clear their dues is unfair. Strict action should be taken against owners of these private colleges.”

Further adding to the discussion former student union president of Agra University, Gaurav Sharma said “It is unjust to make students suffer for the malpractices of colleges. Affiliation of all such colleges should be cancelled and a FIR for cheating should be registered against the management of these institutes.”

Other student leaders revealed that many private colleges have not been paying the examination fees for several years now. Even the convocation ceremonies have been conducted without marksheets and degree certificates issued for the students so far. In 2016, Satyendra Singh, the University’s senior assistant professor was shot dead for raising objections and urging strict action be taken against university- affiliated private colleges for not depositing the examination fees.
