RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav gets bail in Dumka treasury case

Former Chief Minister of Bihar is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS and will soon be able to walk out of jail once discharged from the hospital.


Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav was granted bail in a case related to the fodder scam by the Jharkhand High Court on Saturday. Former Chief Minister of Bihar is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS and will soon be able to walk out of jail once discharged from the hospital.

The case is related to the withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crore from the Dumka treasury by Animal Husbandry Department officials. The fraudulent withdrawal took place between 1991 and 1996 when Mr Yadav was the chief minister of Bihar. Mr Yadav had been convicted in four cases related to the fodder scam, of which he has already been granted bail in three other cases.

Mr Yadav was admitted to AIIMS hospital in January this year after his health deteriorated. In his absence, his son Tejashwi Yadav has been handling all party problems and leading the RJD.
