The official residence of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has been renovated which Delhi government spent around Rs. 44.78 crore between 2020 and 2022, on imported marble, plush interiors, electrical fixtures, and high-end kitchen equipment, the money spent, showed the documents. 

 

On Tuesday evening, the details of the spending created a buzz, but the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) confess that the house was in bad shape and also it is remained government property. 

 

But the BJP leaders were constantly pointing out the comments on the huge amount of public money spent on renovating his official residence. 

 

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, “During the Covid period from 2020 to 2022 many development projects were postponed due to lack of funds but the people of Delhi are in shock that during that Covid phase, the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spent Rs. 44.78 crore on his home and office. 

 

The AAP defended the construction work, saying it cost crore, by comparing it to the cost of other government houses. “The estimate for the Prime Minister’s new sprawling house across 36,268 sq. ft alone is ?467 crore,” it said.

 

However, the AAP defended the construction work, confessing that it cost ?30 crore.

 

"PM Modi's house was reconstructed and the estimate of the project is Rs. 500 crores. The PM has spent ?8,400 crores on buying a new airplane,” Chadha said.
