"Russia Slowed The Pace Of Offensive": Ukrainian Military

Ukraine held a meeting with the G7 foreign ministers.

Taking notes from the Russia-Ukrainian war, Russia finds itself increasingly isolated globally. It has raised the nuclear threat amid bitter criticism from the West. India, meanwhile, has abstained from another vote on Ukraine at the UN as evacuation efforts get challenging at the borders.

Russia has said it wants to reach an agreement with Ukraine, a negotiator said today, according to a report by news agency AFP. The two sides are set to meet in Belarus amid the invasion.

According to the Ukrainian military said on Monday, Russian troops had slowed down "the pace of the offensive" as Moscow's assault against Ukraine went into its fifth day. Russia has claimed air superiority in Ukraine and alleged that Ukraine is using civilians as human "shields".

Earlier today, Russia's central bank announced it was raising its key interest rate to 20 per cent from 9.5 per cent as the West hit the country with sanctions over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

While Ukraine mounts a spirited defence, the European Union has committed to sending fighter jets to Ukraine at Kyiv's request to help it counter the Russian air and land assault, news agency AFP reported. Ukraine has also held a meeting with the G7 foreign ministers requesting assistance in the war.

Moreover, due to harsh economic sanctions by major world powers on Moscow, Russia's ruble has collapsed against the dollar and the euro on the Moscow Stock Exchange on Monday as the West punished Moscow with new sanctions over the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine.
