Russian airline Aeroflot to cancel all flights to Europe from today

Russian airline Aeroflot said on Sunday it would cancel all flights to European Destinations until further notice after the decision by many countries to close their airspace in protest at Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 

 

Russian airline Aeroflot has decided to cancel all flights to Europe from Monday (February 28). 

 

Foreign policy cheif Josep Borrell said the European Union has decided to close its airspace to Russian traffic.

 

European nations and Canada moved on Sunday to shut their airspace to Russian aircraft, an unprecedented step amied at pressuring President Valadirmir Putin to end his invasion of Ukraine. The biggest attack on a European state since World War Two. 

 

"We are shutting down EU airspace for Russian - owned, Russian - registered or Russian - controlled aircraft,” head of the European Commision, Ursula von der Leyen, had also announced. 

 

All such planes, including the private jets of Oligarchs, will now be unable to land in, take off from or fly over any EU nation.

 

Aeroflot's passengers who have booked transportation to/from/through the above-mentioned points are offered a choice: Forced refund, Carriage date changed for the next period, changing points to alternative European Airports from Aeroflot's current schedule.
