BJP Leader said; 'It is a Divine Punishment'

After the Enforcement Directorate raided Sanjay Raut's house and detained him in connection with the Patra Chawl land case, On Monday, 01 August 2022, BJP leader Ram Kadam took a dig at him, saying it was "divine punishment".

Ram Kadam said in a tweet, "Ukhar Diya, Batao, Ye Kisne Kisko Kaha Tha? Isliye Kahawat Hain. Chingari Khel Bada Bura Hota Hain...Auro Ke Gharo mein Aag Lagane Ka Sapna...Khud Ke Hi Ghar Mein Khada Hota Hain… Ye Ishwariya Dand Hain...Naye Badle Huye Bharat ke Kanoon Tatha Shashakt Loktantra Ke Takaat hain. (Now Tell, Who told this to whom, That's why they say, It not good to play with fire, Those who dream to set other people's house on fire, finds himself standing in his own house. This is divine punishment...This is New India's New Law...The supreme power of democracy)."

On Sunday, Mr. Raut, had claimed that the central agency's action was aimed at trying to weaken the Shiv Sena and that a "false" case was prepared against him.

The Shiv Sena leader was arrested at midnight after several hours of questioning in connection with the land case.

An FIR has been registered against Sanjay Raut in Mumbai for allegedly threatening Swapna Patkar, wife of Sujit Patkar who is a close aide of the Shiv Sena leader.

The case was registered at the Vakola police station under sections 504,506 and 509 of IPC.

An audio clip of Ms. Patkar had also gone viral in which Mr. Raut was allegedly heard threatening the witness.

Notably, Swapna Patkar is a witness in the Patra Chawl land case, for which the ED detained Mr. Raut on Sunday after hours of raids at his residence.

On Sunday, Sanjay Raut's brother Sunil Raut claimed that his brother was arrested. He said that Sanjay will be produced before the court on Monday.

"They have arrested Sanjay Raut. The BJP is afraid of him. They haven't given us any documents yet (regarding his arrest). He has been framed. He will be produced in court tomorrow at 11.30 am," on Sunday, claimed Sunil Raut.

According to the sources, ED officials seized ? 11.50 lakh in unaccounted cash from the residence of Mr. Raut on Sunday.

Mr. Raut was detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Sunday in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case after hours of raids at his residence in Mumbai, however, Sanjay Raut's counsel said earlier in the day that his client was neither detained nor arrested. "ED has given a fresh summon to Sanjay Raut, on Monday.

On that basis, Sanjay Raut has come to the ED office to record the statement. He has neither been arrested nor detained," Raut's counsel had said. ED sleuths reached Mr. Raut's residence around 7 am on Sunday and conducted the raid.

Soon after the ED officials detained him in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case, the Shiv Sena leader said that he "he won't be cowed down".

Speaking to media, Mr. Raut said, "False charges and documents are being framed against people. All of this is being done to just weaken Shiv Sena and Maharashtra. Sanjay Raut won't be cowed down. I will not leave the party at any cost."

On June 28, 2022, Sanjay Raut was summoned by the ED in connection with the prevention of the money laundering case pertaining to the ? 1,034 crore Patra Chawl land scam.

Refusing to join the probe and citing the Monsoon Session of Parliament as a reason for not joining the probe, he had then dared the probe agency to arrest him.
