Admitted to Safdarjung Hospital…
On Monday, 22 May 2023, AAP leader Satyendar Jain, who is in jail, was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital after his health deteriorated.
Satyendar Jain is currently in Tihar jail in connection with a money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
According to his lawyer, Satyendar Jain has lost around 35 kilograms since he is in custody.
Recently, the former minister complained that he was feeling lonely and depressed in his cell.
A psychologist inside the jail suggested that he should be around people and have social interactions.
The Tihar jail administration issued a show cause notice to the superintendent of jail number 7 for transferring two inmates to the cell where Satyendar Jain is lodged, officials said on May 15.
The step was taken after Satyendar Jain wrote to the superintendent of jail number 7, asking him to shift two inmates to his cell.
On May 18, the SC sought the ED's response to a plea filed by Satyendar Jain, seeking bail in the money laundering case against him.
This came after the former minister was not granted bail by the Delhi High Court last month.
Satyendar Jain, who held multiple portfolios, including health, home, power, and water in the Delhi government, was arrested by the ED on May 31, 2022, in the money laundering case.
