Schools in Assam to reopen from today

The new SOP mandated that the capacity of a classroom should not be more than 30 students.


Schools and colleges have been shut for more than two years due to the spread of the deadly virus. The country was hit hard by Covid-19 and many educational institutions were closed during the peak.

Whereas schools and colleges of few states are opening at a slow pace while keeping an eye over the current Covid-19 scenario. Meanwhile, the schools in Assam have been reopened for class 12 and colleges have also been opened in the state. According to the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), capacity of a classroom should not exceed 30 students and steps have been taken to maintain social distancing measures in the classroom to stop the spread of the virus.

According to ANI, Mahamai Dutta, a student from Higher Secondary said, "It feels good to be back after so many days. Meeting my friends and coming to classes after so long. Everyone should wear a face mask, keep a sanitiser, and follow the other protocols along with taking the classes."

Schools and colleges have opened but fear of the third wave of Covid-19 still lingers in the country. New guidelines have also been implemented in a few states.
