Schools to reopen in Delhi from tomorrow

DDMA has also asked the schools to engage in counselling to provide emotional and trauma support to students.


Covid-19 cases were horrific in the national capital during the second wave and it witnessed scarcity in medical resources, medical equipment and unavailability of beds in hospitals.

Schools in the national capital will reopen from tomorrow, that is, September 1 with 50 per cent capacity and alternate seating, separate timing for different student groups, staggered lunch breaks with Covid-19  protocol to be followed strictly.

According to the order given by DDMA, it allowed reopening of schools for classes 9 to 12 from September 1. The order also called for a mandatory thermal screening at the entry gates following complete Covid protocol including a face mask, sanitisation. The order also stated that the students from classes 6 to 8 may be allowed from September 8. DDMA has also asked the schools to engage in counselling to provide emotional and trauma support to students. "Teachers are to ensure that they speak to each student and enquire about their well being. They should provide counselling, emotional support to students and mentally prepare children for teaching-learning activities and thereafter resume academic activities."

Meanwhile, many other states including Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab and many more states have resumed offline classes.
