Section 144 Extended In Noida Till March 31

Decision Came ahead of UP elections!


Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Gautam Buddh Nagar District Administration has announced the extension of section 144 in Noida. The extension will take place till March 31.


As per the notification, the restrictions will remain in force from Feb 1 to March 31. Earlier last year in December, section 144 was imposed and restrictions were clamped till Jan 31 to curb the spread of COVID-19.


According to the information, the order was issued by Ashutosh Dwivedi, the additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) law and order, issued an order on Monday (January 31, 2022) to prohibit the gathering of four or more people in a public space.


The information mentions that the ones disobeying the order will be booked under section 188 of the Indian penal Code. The Uttar Pradesh elections will begin in Seven Phases and the counting of votes will be declared on March 10.


According to the statement given by the Uttar Pradesh government, the state-reported 6,626 new Covid cases, pushing the infection tally to 20,19,549 while the death toll rose to 23,207 with 18 more fatalities and two deaths, each was reported from Prayagraj and Bijnor.

 

In the last 24 hours, 6,946 COVID-19 patients recovered from the disease, taking the total recoveries to 19,41,506. There are 54,836 active cases in the state, it said.

 

Also, in the last 24 hours, more than 1.80 lakh samples have been tested, while over 9.94 crore Covid tests have been carried out in the state so far.
