Section 144 Imposed In Lucknow

Section 144 was imposed in the state to avoid any conflict due to ongoing farmers' protests.


Uttar Pradesh has been lately in controversy over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. In order to maintain law and order, the government has imposed Section 144 in Lucknow.

According to a state government official, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure was imposed till November 8 in Lucknow, the capital of the UP. Section 144 was imposed in the state to avoid any conflict due to ongoing farmers' protests.

According to the official announcement of the UP government, “Section 144 of the CRPC in the state capital Lucknow implemented with immediate effect". Section 144 will remain in effect in the capital until November 8 to ensure law and order in compliance with the COVID-19 rules in the view of upcoming festivals, various entrance exams and farmers' protests.

Tension had increased over reports of violence in the area. Several political leaders have been trying to get to Lakhimpur Kheri to visit the site and families of the deceased.
