Separate isolation rooms set up at Delhi hospitals for treating monkeypox cases

With an alarming signal the cases of monkeypox are rising in India. The cases one after another have been reported in the National capital.

 

Whereas separate treatment set up and 6 hospitals of Delhi have been geared up to provide treatment for this communicable virus.

 

According to the information, Delhi government has set up 20 isolation rooms in Loknayak Jaiprakash (LNJP) Hospital, 10 isolation rooms each in GTB hospital, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Kailash Deepak Hospital, MD City Hospital and Batra Hospital, Tughlakabad for treating patients affected by monkeypox.

 

'Not many cases of monkeypox have been reported in India, yet we are ready with all the preventive measures in place. The Delhi government is taking several important steps to prevent monkeypox infection from spreading across the capital', said Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who is also in charge of the Health department.

 

To provide immediate treatment for the positive and suspected cases of monkeypox, the Delhi government has made isolation rooms in three government hospitals and three private hospitals. 20 isolation rooms have been set up in Loknayak Jaiprakash Hospital, 10 isolation rooms each in GTB hospital and Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital.

 

According to the guidelines of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MFHoW), if a person has a travel history to monkeypox affected countries in the past 21 days, and has symptoms like swollen lymph nodes, fever, headache, bodyache, rashes, weakness, respiratory symptoms, then he/she might be a suspected case of monkeypox.
