Seven teenagers arrested for Diwali Robbery

Two arrested while the five others have been sent to reformation home, said the Delhi police


On Diwali night, two eighteen-year-old teenagers and five more boys in the age group of 14-16 forcibly entered a house and ransacked it, holding a woman and her daughter captive. The police later tracked them down after preparing an electronic route using CCTV footage. “The case was solved in less than 24 hours of being reported,” said DCP Parvinder Singh. While two persons were arrested the other five has been sent to reformation home said the police.

 

The incident was reported from Mangolpuri on the night of November 4 however the family filed the complaint regarding the incident two days later out of fear. In the statement, the victim said that around10pm she and her daughter were sitting at home after performing Diwali puja when four armed men barged into the house. They hurdled the duo in a corner and took away all the cash, jewelry and other valuables. And while fleeing the robbers threatened them if they dared to make a complaint to the police. The women then reported the incident on November 6 and an FIR was registered and the team formed under ACP Virender Kadyan and SHO Mukesh have been investigating.

 

On being interviewed the police found few clues from the family. The woman’s daughter told the police that she saw three others running down the streets along with the four robbers after leaving their house. A section of dacoity was added to the FIR based on the information. The team collected and analyzed the CCTV footage located at and around the crime scene. Local sources were also asked if they had any information regarding the suspects.

 

Acting on a tip off regarding the involvement of two boys in the incident a raid was conducted and the two suspects were caught. Part of the looted cash and weapons from the crimes were seized from them. During questioning the role of their other associates were revealed and they were apprehended from a park area. One of the accused claimed to have taken admission in DU college in first year, which is yet to be verified.
