Shelter Home For Homeless Amid Cold Waves In Delhi

8,000 people took shelter in shelter homes all over Delhi


Delhi is all set to provide Shelter homes to the homeless people due to increased winter cold waves. The Delhi government setup shelter homes and tents for the people living in streets and providing meals to them for their survival in such hard climate conditions.

According to the Delhi urban shelter improvement board member ,Vipin Rai, “ They have nearly 197 permanent shelter homes and will arrange 250 more temporary shelters or tents in Delhi.” He further added that they have already worked on with 190 functional tents and more 50 will be set up soon by the team, with shelter homes they will provide the people blankets and mattresses along with three-times meals a day.

As per the information shared by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board; they arranged a shelter home for nearly 22,000 people to stay across Delhi divided in 15 zones where Bangla Sahib, Kashmiri Gate, AIIMS are already working with the plan for the occupant. They further added that the arrangements are complete for the stay and nearly 4 tents are installed at Sarai kale khan main road, apart from that a shelter of 100 beds have been set up at Nizamuddin railway station.

“On Wednesday, almost 8,000 people took shelter in shelter homes all over Delhi. The numbers of people are increasing continuously.” Vipin Rai said.
