Some hidden signs of stress...

Everyone has their own unique experience when it comes to stress. It can be caused by workplace tension, a clash of styles, social or home life problems, or unexpected life events. Although we might know what can cause stress, sometimes it's hard to know if are experiencing it ourselves. 

 

Well, stress in excess or persistent stress can do the opposite. It could numb our senses, affect our productivity, problem solving skills and make decision - making difficult. Apart from that, it could manifest in physical symptoms would could invite aches, pains, headaches, dizziness, muscular tension, high blood pressure among a host of stress - induced health issues. 

 

"Your body gives off all sorts of subtle signals that you might not be aware of. And sometimes, these signals can be a sign that you are under more stress than you realize. Dr. Tugnait in an interview with HT digitals talks about the five hidden signs of stress: 

 

* Trouble sleeping - Stress can make it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep. It can cause sleep deprivation. Too little sleep affects your mood and can contribute to irritability and sometimes depression. 

 

* Digestive issues - Stress slows down digestion, causing bloating, pain and constipation, causing diarrhea and frequent trips to the loo. It can also worsen digestive conditions like stomach ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome. 

 

* Frequent headaches - Headaches are more likely to occur when you are stressed. Stress is a common trigger of tension - type headaches and migraine. If you find yourself getting headaches more often than usual, it could be a sign that your stress levels are too high. 

 

* Unexplained aches and pains - Stress can cause muscle tension, which can lead to pain in the neck, shoulders and back. If you find yourself experiencing more aches and pains than usual, it could be a sign that you are stressed out. 

 

* Fatigue and low energy levels - When you are stressed, your body is in a constant "fight or fight" mode, which can lead to fatigue and exhaustion. Stress can make you feel tired and drained of energy. If you are feeling fatigued all the time, it might be a sign that your body is trying to tell you to slow down.
