Sonia gandhi on Women's Reservation Bill

"It is Ours, Apna hai"

New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi, the party leader of the Congress in parliament, declared on Tuesday that the women's reservation law "is ours" amid rumors that it would be introduced in Parliament.

On Monday, the Congress declared that it approved of the rumored action because the party has long been making the demand.

As Mrs. Gandhi entered Parliament on Tuesday, someone asked her about the law, and she responded, "It is ours, apna hai." We appreciate the reported decision of the Union Cabinet and await the contents of the Bill, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote in a post on "X" yesterday. The all-party conference before to the Special Session might have very easily been used to address this, and a consensus could have been reached then instead of proceeding in secret, the speaker stated.

The government introducing the women's reservation bill on Tuesday will be a "victory for the Congress and its allies in the UPA government," according to senior Congress leader P Chidambaram.

The bill was approved in the Rajya Sabha on March 9, 2010, under the UPA administration. However, the Lok Sabha did not take it up.
