States can allow the teaching of Bhagwad Gita in schools: Govt

On Monday, the Government told to Lok Sabha that the state government can allow the teaching of the Bhagwad Gita in schools if they want.


According to the statement given by the union minister for education Anupurna Devi said, the state government can also make the provisions for the teaching of the Bhojpuri language in the schools if they want, adding more she said, under the new education policy (NEP) the education of children in regional languages has been made Mandatory. "Education comes in the concurrent list of (the constitution). If the state wants, they can add Bhagwad Gita to the curriculum.


Adding more, she said" The minister said the union Government issues advisories to the state government from time to time. If the state government wants, they can comply with them and make provisions for teaching (Bhojpuri) to the students of class 1-12."

 


Meanwhile, several states have mandated their regional language in school education. Also, the new education policy (NEP) will bring back a change in the education system.
